ONE: Call to Greatness results

Asian promotion ONE Championship returned to Singapore Indoor Stadium this past Friday (Feb. 22) presenting the event billed as “Call to Greatness”. Thai Stamp Fairtex and American Janet Todd squared off in the headliner of the show battling it out for the inaugural Muay Thai title in the atomweight class.

The contest went the distance. After five rounds of women’s Muay Thai action a unanimous decision was pronounced in favor of the representative of Kingdom of Thailand.

“Stamp implemented a solid game plan as she pushed the pace and punished Todd with a punch-heavy attack. After five grueling rounds, Stamp was declared the winner on all three of the judges’ scorecards to make history as the first-ever two-sport World Champion in ONE Championship history,” reads the event recap the promotion sent out on Saturday.

The co-main event featured Amir Khan and Ariel Sexton facing off in the quarter-final bout of ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix. The latter came out victorious by submission in the third round.

“Costa Rican submission specialist Ariel “Tarzan” Sexton grappled his way into the Semi-Finals of the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix after submitting former ONE World Title contender Amir Khan of Singapore with a rear-naked choke in the third round. Sexton managed to survive a number of precarious situations and remained relentless in his pursuit to take the action to the ground. Early in the third round, Sexton easily took Khan down and immediately fastened the submission to force Khan to tap.”
