Thai Fight Phuket results
Famed Muay Thai fighter Saenchai was back in action last night (Feb. 23) in Phuket, Thailand. Battling it out in the main event of “Thai Fight” he faced Firdavs Nazarov of Uzbekistan.
The pair squared off in the scheduled for three rounds encounter at catchweight with the limit of 66 kg. The bout went the distance, and resulted in a unanimous decision pronounced in favor of Thai star.
The first round saw the Uzbek fighter throwing punches and kicking the lead leg of his southpaw opponent. The latter displayed a series of sweep techniques, which he had recently shared on Instagram (from training and previous fights), as well as his trademark, cartwheel kick.
The second round appeared more aggressive with the Thai fighter landing all-round kicks, punches and elbows, in addition to the repeated step-up knees to the body. Half way through the round the Uzbek competitor did not seem to be exactly in the fight.
In the third and final round Saenchai showcased a variety of the “Art of Eight Limbs” which included the spinning-back elbow, axe kick and much more. Nazarov strived to fight back, yet it was not enough to overcome the class of the former four-division Lumpinee Boxing Stadium champion.
In his previous bout last month in Turin Saenchai scored a unanimous decision against Italian Cristian Faustino. The 38-year-old is riding the win-streak since November 2014.
