Jorge Acero Cali faces Marcos Maidana

Jorge Acero Cali is yet to be done with fighting. Furthermore, the former WKN Super Cruiserweight champion is set to test himself in the Sweet Science going up against the former world champion in two weight classes Marcos “El Chino” Maidana, World Kickboxing Network announced on Tuesday.

The venue and date of the bout is yet to be locked in. Nevertheless FIGHTMAG learned that the contest is targeted for the next three months.

Over the course of his kickboxing career Jorge Acero Cali successfully defended WKN Super Cruiserweight title three times. His resume includes the wins against Abderahim Benazzizi, Adul Ranmhemavo, Ademar Correa, among others.

Last June “Acero” Cali returned to fight action after five years of layout, making his second attempt in MMA. Battling it out in the main event of Simply the Best 20 Cordoba he faced the defeat by submission in the first round against Diego “El Toro” Visotzky.

Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31 KO) is one of the most recognizable names in Argentinian boxing, who held the WBA (Regular) super lightweight title and the WBA welterweight title.

“El Chino” Maidana stated a number of notable wins including the stoppages of Victor Ortiz, Josesito Lopez, Petr Petrov. Two of his previous bouts ended in favor of boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr. who came out victorious by decision.

Facing off Cali, Maidana will be going through the ropes for the first time since September 2014.
