Myanmar’s Tial Thang makes his ONE Championship debut taking on Cambodian Rin Saroth this coming Friday (Mar. 8) at Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon. The pair of MMA fighters squares off in the 68 kg catchweight bout, which is featured on the card billed as ONE: Reign of Valor.

The event marks the return of “The Dragon Leg” Thang to his home country for the first time in over ten years. He makes “his maiden appearance as a mixed martial arts professional, but he has had plenty of seasoning as an amateur, and he has honed his skills with some elite training partners,” reads the announcement the promotion sent out on Wednesday. For the last two years Thang trained with “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang.

“I think this fight [against Rin Saroth] is going to end quickly,” said Tial Thang. “No disrespect to Saroth, but I am a better fighter, and I have the capability of finishing this fight in the early rounds.”

Tial Thang holds four victories behind his belt as an amateur. He is confident to switch from grappling and trade shots with “a strong right hand” opponent.

“I am very aggressive, go forward, and show up to fight. He is good at everything, but his grappling is his biggest weakness. He has a strong right hand, but other than that, I’m not worried about anything.”

“It’s such an honor and blessing for me to fight in front of my people. I can’t wait to put on a very entertaining fight for them.”

ONE: Reign of Valor is headlined by Zebaztian Kadestam in defense of his ONE Welterweight title against Georgiy Kichigin. The full fight card can be found here.
