Alexander Volkanovski faces Jose Aldo at UFC 237

The next bout of Australian featherweight Alexander Volkanovski has been reportedly set. The New South Wales fighter takes on Brazilian Jose Aldo at the upcoming UFC 237 scheduled for May 12 (AEDT) at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The matchup was initially announced by Farah Hannoun (via Twitter), and according to The Body Lock (citing sources) confirmed.

Alexander Volkanovski (19-1) is riding the 16-fight win streak since December 2013. In his previous outing late last year at UFC 232 he stopped Chad Mendes in the second round. Before that he earned a unanimous decision against Darren Elkins, and TKO’d Jeremy Kennedy in Round 2 at UFC 221 in Perth.

Jose Aldo (28-4) is the former UFC featherweight champion. He won two previous bouts by TKO with punches against Renato Moicano and Jeremy Stephens in Round 2 and 1 (respectively). Before that he faced a pair of defeats against the current titleholder in the division Max Holloway.

Among the bouts at UFC 237, Rose Namajunas is scheduled to defend her UFC Women’s Strawweight title against Jessica Andrade. The list of announced to date matchups can be found below.
