ONE New Era fight card: Andrew Leone out, Senzo Ikeda faces Danny Kingad

ONE Championship presents a mixed fight-show billed as “New Era” on March 31 at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo. The event marks the Japanese debut of prominent Asian promotion featuring four title bouts, quarterfinals of two World Grand Prix, as well as a series of super fights.

The fight card of the upcoming show has suffered a change when “Andrew Leone of the United States has withdrawn from his ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix quarter-final bout against Danny “The King” Kingad of the Philippines. As a result, Japanese veteran Senzo Ikeda will fill in for Leone to face Kingad,” reads the announcement sent out on Monday.

“Ikeda, who sports a professional mixed martial arts record of 12-6-1, is a former undefeated boxer. He captured the Pancrase Flyweight World Championship with a unanimous decision victory over Mamoru Yamaguchi in August 2017, and is today a veteran of the Japanese martial arts scene. Coming off a sensational fifth-round stoppage victory over fellow ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix entrant Yuya Wakamatsu, Ikeda now seeks to leave a lasting impression in his promotional debut as he takes on Filipino phenom Danny Kingad.”

In the main event at ONE: New Era Eduard Folayang faces former champion Shinya Aoki for the second time in defense of his ONE Lightweight title. Also on the card three title bouts serving as the co-main event, as well as flyweight Demetrious Johnson and lightweight Eddie Alvarez who make their promotional debut partaking in World Grand Prix in their respective weight classes.
