Welterweights Stephen Thompson and Anthony Pettis squared off in the main event of UFC Fight Night 148. MMA event billed as “UFC on ESPN+ 6” took place at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on March 24 (AEDT) featuring twelve bouts.
The scheduled for five rounds battle between former two-time UFC Welterweight title challenger “Wonderboy” Thompson” and former UFC Lightweight champion “Showtime” Pettis ended prior to the final horn. The latter dropped his opponent to the canvas at 4:55 of Round 2 with Superman punch which preceded two solid hits cementing the victory.
Heavyweights Curtis Blaydes and Justin Willis battled it out in the co-main event. The clash of heavy-hitters went the three-round distance ending in favor of Blaydes who earned a unanimous decision.
Also on the main card John Makdessi scored a unanimous decision against Jesus Pinedo at lightweight, and Jussier Formiga similarly defeated Deiveson Figueiredo at flyweight. As well, Luis Pena came out victorious, also by unanimous decision, over Steven Peterson from their 148.5-pound catchweight bout.
In addition, Maycee Barber stopped JJ Aldrich in the second round of their women’s flyweight encounter, which kicked off the main card. The complete fight results from UFC Nashville can be found below.
