Wrap Up Wildfighter Boxing: Round 1


The inaugural “Wildfighter” boxing event was held on March 23 at The Timber Yard in Port Melbourne, Australia. Presented by former IBO World Super Featherweight champion Will Tomlinson, the fight card featured a series of bouts with local and international competitors.

Australian Jason Whateley topped the fight-bill facing off Jonasa Kavika of Fiji. The scheduled for eight rounds cruiserweight encounter ended before the final bill. The local fighter stopped his opponent in the second round with right overhand.

The “Wildfighter” co-main event featured Daniel Lewis in his professional boxing debut going up against Sanong Seepongsert of Thailand. The super middleweight battle also ended in the second round with the Australian fighter stopping his opponent with left body shot.

Also on the night Muay Thai fighter Victor Nagbe made his first appearance as a pro-boxer taking on Jyl Wright. The pair of super welterweights went the distance ending in split decision awarded in favor of Nagbe.
