TEKB 16 Agde: Mickael Pignolo vs. Stefan Meszaros
Kickboxing World Championship returns to Agde, France on May 25 with the next edition of “Trophée de l’Éphèbe de Kickboxing”. The series of events presented by Christophe Dragole was launched in 2003. French Nicolas Wamba, Australian Rob Powdrill, just to name a couple, have battled it out on the nights contesting for the prestigious WKN belts.
An upcoming show, TEKB 16 is headlined by “French Mickael Pignolo up against Slovakian Stefan Meszaros. The pair battles it out for WKN World Super Welterweight title. The bout is scheduled for five rounds in oriental kickboxing [K-1 rules],” reads the announcement on Saturday.
Mickael Pignolo headlined a previous event produced last year when he scored a unanimous decision against Hristov Hristo as well as made a successful defense of his WKN European Super Welterweight title. Taking on Meszaros for the major World Kickboxing Network strap in his respective weight class, Frenchman is coming of a three-round encounter with Spanish Jordi Requejo, which ended in a unanimous draw early this month in Nimes.
Stefan Meszaros is a newly crowned WKN European Welterweight champion. He earned the belt by a unanimous decision against Polish Przemyslaw Kierpacz this past February in Bratislava. Earlier in his career the Slovakian fighter has twice appeared at kickboxing series Simply the Best in Kosice and Poprad where he defeated Martin Gano and Bartosz Zajac (respectively). Facing off Pignolo he moves up a weight class.
