Prokick: Back at the Clayton

The World Kickboxing Network makes its second visit to Northern Ireland this year with the next edition of “Prokick” presented by Billy Murray on June 23. The event billed as “Sunday Fight-Special” takes place at Clayton Hotel featuring local and international competitors. The headliner of the show is a contest for WKN Intercontinental title, the organization announced on Tuesday.

Representing Europe, local favorite Johnny Smith goes through the ropes in front of his home crowd taking on Korean Lee Ji Hoon, representing Asia. The pair battles it out for WKN Intercontinental Welterweight title. The bout is scheduled for five rounds in oriental kickboxing (K-1 rules).

As a professional “Swift” Smith holds the 7-fight undefeated record, which includes 4 victories by way of KO/TKO. His resume also includes an amateur 17-4-2 record. In his previous bout this past February Bangor native (town in Northern Ireland) scored a unanimous decision against Christos Venizelou of Cyprus.

Lee Ji Hoon (26-8, 7 KO) is a reigning welterweight champion of Korean promotion MAX Fighting Championship. Over the course of his career he defeated the likes of Choi Hoon, Na Seung, among others.

The rest of the fight card for “Prokick: Back at the Clayton” is expected to be announced in the coming weeks. The line up “will feature local and international competitors in a series of rating and amateur bouts” (via the announcement).
