The Ultimate Fighting Championship made its second visit to Russia with UFC Fight Night 149 held at Yubileyny Sports Palace in Saint Petersburg on April 21 (AEDT). MMA event featured eleven bouts on ESPN+ with a heavyweight battle between Alistair Overeem and Alexey Oleynik serving as a headliner of the show. The contest ended prior to the final horn. “The Reem” stopped his opponent fifteen seconds before the end of the first round.

In the co-main event Islam Makhachev came out victorious from his lightweight bout against Arman Tsarukyan scoring a unanimous decision. Also on the main card another clash of heavy-hitters between Sergei Pavlovich and Marcelo Golm ended in favor of the representative of the country-host who stopped his opponent in the first round.

As well, after three rounds of women’s flyweight MMA action Roxanne Modafferi took a split decision against Antonina Shevchenko. In addition, middleweight Krzysztof Jotko scored a three-round unanimous decision against Alen Amedovski.

The scheduled main card bout between Devin Clark and Ivan Shtyrkov fell off after the latter was hospitalized a day before the fight show. The complete results from UFC Fight Night 149 can be found below.
