Cormier-Miocic rematch set for UFC 241 in Anaheim

UFC 241: Cormier vs. Miocic 2

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to the Honda Center in Anaheim, California August 18 (AEDT) with UFC 241.. The headline-bout for the upcoming Pay-Per-View fight card has been officially announced on Sunday, featuring a championship rematch between heavyweights Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic.

Daniel Cormier (22-1, 1NC) is a current UFC Heavyweight champion. He earned the belt against former champion Stipe Miocic (18-3) by knockout in the first round last July. Holding the light heavyweight title in the same time, he also became the second fighter in the promotion’s history to be dubbed as “champ-champ”, joining Conor McGregor. “DC” relinquished light heavyweight strap in December 2018 ahead of the rematch between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson who contested for the belt late last year.

In his previous outing last November Cormier made his first successful UFC Heavyweight title defense when he submitted Derrick Lewis in the second round. Miocic hasn’t fought since his first encounter with “DC”. Before that he was riding the six-fight win streak, including three successful championship defenses.

Other bouts for UFC 241 are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
