Buakaw Banchamek and Yi Long face off for the third time. The contest between Muay Thai star and Kung Fu fighter was initially announced at the press conference held in Bangkok in March. The bout was targeted for October in Hong Kong, however another date has been recently set.
“Buakaw will take on Yi Long for the final episode of their trilogy on 2 November. Win by KO only! It’s time to finish the score once and for all. Stay tuned for more news to come [sic],” the promotion Mas Fight posted on Facebook.
It is unclear whether the encounter still takes place in Hong Kong. More information is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Buakaw Banchamek and Yi Long first met mid 2015 in Jiyuan. After three rounds of action the Thai fighter earned a unanimous decision. Their second battle in November 2016 in Nanjing ended in favor of Long, who took the win also by decision.

The announced rules of the upcoming third contest are the following:
The pair squares off within one round of nine minutes in duration wearing 5 OZ gloves. Kicks, punches, knees and elbows are allowed, which is equivalent to Muay Thai. In addition the competitors can execute sweeps, trips, throws and takedowns.
There is no ringside judges. To win the bout the contender has to score a knockout. Three knockdown rule is in effect. The draw is declared if the bout goes the distance.
In his previous bout in March Buakaw Banchamek earned a unanimous decision against Artem Pashporin. He is riding the six-fight win streak.
Yi Long was last seen inside the ring in November 2018 when he faced Choi Hong-man in an exhibition matchup. Before that he was KO’d by Saiyok Pumpanmuang and Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong.
