The World Kickboxing Network announced its second visit to Malta for 2019 scheduled for June 29. The organization returns to an archipelago in the central Mediterranean between Sicily and the North African coast with “Gladiators Fight Night 23” taking place at The Pavilion Gastro Pub in Paola. The event follows a previous edition held in February. Top of the fight-bill of the upcoming show is a contest for WKN Featherweight title between Keith Azzopardi and Qurban Hosseini.

“The representative of the country-host Keith Azzopardi takes on Afghani-German Qurban Hosseini. The pair battles it out for WKN World Featherweight title. The contest is scheduled for five rounds in oriental kickboxing [K-1 rules],” reads the announcement on Monday.

The resume of Azzopardi includes WKN European Lightweight title earned against Mathias Branchu by a unanimous decision at Battle of Saint-Raphael 5 in September 2017. Hosseini won WKN International Bantamweight title against Massi Rahimi also by unanimous decision last November in Demmin, Germany. The pair now meets at featherweight challenging for WKN gold.

“The undercard will include a series of kickboxing and Muay Thai bouts with local and international competitors.”
