Two titles were contested last night (May 17) at the Singapore Indoor Stadium where ONE Championship presented the “Enter the Dragon” event. Top of the bill featured the defending lightweight MMA champion Shinya Aoki up against Christian Lee. The scheduled for five rounds bout didn’t go the distance. After surviving the opening round, the latter stopped his opponent in Round 2 with strikes. As a result Lee became a new champion in the division.
The co-main event featured the inaugural ONE Lightweight kickboxing championship between Nieky Holzken and Regian Eersel. After five rounds of action Eersel was pronounced as the winner by a unanimous decision, consequently taking the belt.
The event also featured the launch of ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix. In the first quarter-final bout Dzhabar Askerov scored a unanimous decision against Enriko Kehl. In the second, Jo Nattawut stopped Sasha Moisa in Round 3. In addition, Samy Sana defeated Yodsanklai Fairtex by a unanimous decision, and Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy took a split decision against Giorgio Petrosyan.
Also on the night, Sage Northcutt made his highly anticipated ONE Championship debut. Yet, the contest ended in favor of Cosmo Alexandre who dropped his opponent with one punch early in Round 1.
As well, Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev knocked out Amir Khan in the first round earning the ticket to the final of ONE Lightweight MMA WGP. The complete fight results from ONE: Enter the Dragon can be found below.
