Muay Thai star Yodsanklai Fairtex and French-Algerian Samy Sana squared off on May 17 in Singapore. The pair battled it out in the quarter-final bout of ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix. The bout went a three-round distance. A unanimous decision was pronounced in favor of the latter, who also took the revenge for the defeat suffered in 2013.
Post-fight famed Thai called for a rematch with several posts in social media. He proposed Frenchman to face off for the third time wearing MMA gloves.
As understood, the trilogy fight might have happened after the culmination of an on-going kickboxing tournament. Sana is scheduled to face Dagestani-Russian Dzhabar Askerov in the semi-final bout of the contest.
The French competitor responded to Yodsanklai in social media agreeing to the bout. The screenshot of the post was shared by the Thai.
Got confirmed by Yodsanklai‘s camp that the third fight with Samy Sana is no longer interesting due to disrespectful way of communication. pic.twitter.com/8HHn67solF

“You said so many time you want rematch ! I told you OK !!!! what we can do now ??? I’M IN PATTAYA in your city. Come to Venum Training Camp or SENT ME LOCATION [sic].”
The “send me location” is a known quote of the reigning UFC Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who has been saying it ahead of his bout with Conor McGregor.
The traditional sport of Muay Thai is based on discipline and respect. It is far from the world of Mixed Martial Arts where the trash talk is normal.
Although Samy Sana perhaps didn’t mean harm or disrespect the winner of Contender Asia (2008) Yodsanklai Fairtex took his words close to heart. Feeling disrespect he dropped the idea of their third fight making the announcement on Facebook. FIGHTMAG received a confirmation from the source close to the camp of Yodsanklai Fairtex.
