Kickboxing event GLORY 66 takes place at the Zenith Paris indoor arena on June 22. The headliner of the show features three title bouts between the defending champions and the top ranked contenders. Following the announced triple treat, a series of additional matchups have been added to the card on Tuesday. The list includes a couple of light heavyweight battles, an encounter at welterweight, and a clash of heavyweights.
Among the light heavyweight bouts French Stephane Susperregui faces Dutch Luis Tavares, and Brazilian Felipe Micheletti takes on Latvian Artur Gorlov. The bouts are featured on the GLORY 66 Paris and Super Fight Series cards, respectively.
The resume of Susperregui (48-8-2, 28 KO) includes World Kickboxing Network Heavyweight title. Over the course of his career he also went up against Nathan “Carnage” Corbett in attempt to become a two-sport titleholder, yet fell short with the later defending his Muay Thai strap by a unanimous decision.
Tavares (60-7, 22 KO) is coming of a split decision win taken against Gorlov last December. Currently ranked No. 2 light heavyweight is making his third appearance in GLORY Kickboxing after the 2013 unsuccessful debut against the current champion in the division Artem Vakhitov.
Micheletti (15-7, 5 KO) is known for his WKN Super Cruiserweight title win against Rogelio Ortiz at IVC 15 in 2016. Ranked No. 3 in the light heavyweight class of GLORY, he is coming of a unanimous decision win earned against Zinedine Hameur-Lain last October.
Gorlov (23-8, 10 KO) faced Hameur-Lain in his previous bout in March, but was disqualified “after a clinch on the ropes aggravated a back injury” of the latter (via the announcement). Before that he suffered the defeat by split decision against Tavares. Yet, the resume of Latvian kickboxer includes WKN International Super Cruiserweight title earned by knockout in the first round against Neil Aquino.
Welterweights “Hamicha” Mohamed Mezouari and Adam Hadfield battle it out on the GLORY 66 Paris fight card.
Last December Hamicha (37-2, 27 KO) “made one of the most explosive GLORY debuts of all time when he stopped Miles Simson,” reads the announcement. Hadfield (19-3-1, 10 KO) also steps in the GLORY ring for the second time, coming of a unanimous decision win against Richard Abraham.
The heavyweight battle features “Slovakian Giant” Tomas Mozny up against French Nordine Mahieddine. The contest is featured on the Super Fight Series part of the program.
In his previous bout “Spinning back kick Sensation” Mozny (20-8-1, 6 KO) suffered the defeat by split decision against Jahfarr Wilnis. Before that he fell short against Tomasz Sarara in WKN World Super Heavyweight title bout, which followed a unanimous decision win against Daniel Skvor.
The representative of the country-host Mahieddine (18-7) makes his second appearance in GLORY Kickboxing, following his 2016 debut against Nicola Wamba, who won the fight by a unanimous decision. Since then the French kickboxer “has competed internationally and most recently was the finalist in an eight-man tournament in the Netherlands”.
As well, the lineup includes ranked No. 3 lightweight Stoyan Koprivlenski (10-3-0, 4 KO) up against Mohammed Jaraya (64-7-0, 36 KO), who has previously competed at welterweight. In addition, ranked No.5 featherweight Aleksei Ulianov (23-3-1) partakes in GLORY 66 Paris facing off a yet to be named opponent.
In the main event of GLORY 66 Cedric Doumbe defends his welterweight title against Alim Nabiyev. In the co-main event Anissa Meksen defends her super bantamweight strap against Sofia Olofsson. Artem Vakhitov defends his light heavyweight belt against Donegi Abena in the headliner of Super Fight Series.
