Wildfighter Round 2 fight card, Whateley vs. Oganov

The second edition of Wildfighter is held on June 1 at The Timber Yard in Port Melbourne, Australia. The event presented by former IBO World Super Featherweight champion Will Tomlinson features the eight-fight bill. Cruiserweights Jason Whateley and Victor Oganov battle it out in the headliner of the show. The bout is scheduled for eight rounds.

In his previous bout late April Rio Olympian Jason Whateley (4-0-0, 3 KO) stopped Filimoni Naliva Jr in the first round. Before that the 28-year-old Victorian boxer KO’d Jonasa Kavika in Round 2 at the inaugural Wildfighter event, following the third-round TKO win against Harjinder Singh and a unanimous decision over Navosa Ioata.

Russian-Australian Victor Oganov (32-6-0, 30 KO) is coming off a defeat against Demsey McKean, who scored the sixth-round TKO last October. Before that the 42-year-old WA-based fighter stopped Jae Bryce in Round 2. The resume of Oganov also includes the wins against Walter Pupu’a, Richard Grant, among others.

Super Middleweights Mark Smith and Simon Leafa square off in the co-main event. The bout is scheduled for six rounds.

Simon Leafa (1-0-1, 1KO) is coming off the third-round TKO win against Brody MacDonald. Before that he faced Hussein Dehaini with the bout ending in a majority draw.

In his previous outing Mark Smith (5-4-3) went into a split draw with Lachlan Higgins. Before that he faced a pair of defeats against Matt Sheehan and Mark Kassab by TKO in Round 8 and a unanimous decision, respectively. Earlier in his career he defeated the likes of Joe Corner, Corey Allen and others.
