Jonathan Haggerty defends ONE Flyweight Muay Thai title against Rodtang Jitmuangnon

Newly-crowned ONE Flyweight Muay Thai champion Jonathan Haggerty makes his first title defense on August 2. Going through the ropes at the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila the English competitor faces Thai Rodtang Jitmuangnon aka “Iron Man”. The pair headlines the event billed as “Dawn of Heroes”. The championship bout is scheduled for five rounds.

Haggerty claimed the title in May. Battling it out in Jakarta he scored a unanimous decision against former champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao.

Rodtang is a two-time Omnoi Stadium champion. He was last seen in action also in May, when he stopped Sok Thy in the second round.

The co-main event features former lightweight champion Eduard Folayang up against Eddie Alvarez. The bout is scheduled for three rounds.

In his previous bout late March Folayang was submitted by Shinya Aoki in the first round. Alvarez also fought on that night (ONE A New Era), which marked his ONE Championship debut. Yet, former UFC lightweight champion was stopped by Timofey Nastyukhin in Round 1.

The fight card of the upcoming show also includes a pair of ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix semi-finals. In one of the bouts Demetrious Johnson takes on Tatsumitsu Wada. In another, Danny Kingad faces Kairat Akhmetov.

In addition, Honorio Banario and Timofey Nastyukhin square off in the semi-final of lightweight WGP. The announced to date lineup featuring a series of Muay Thai and MMA bouts can be found below.
