Azzopardi, Molinari & Kotlun become new WKN champions, Jebir retains

Four WKN titles were up for grabs last night (June 15) on French Riviera. The annual “Ardissone Nice Full Contact” event took place at the Salle Leyrit in Nice, France featuring a trio of World Kickboxing Network championship bouts, following the contest for European crown. The lineup up included the A-list representatives of the country-host up against international opponents from Malta, Italy, Slovakia and Belarus. Three out of four bouts ended in favor of the guests.

French Jonathan Pastorino and Maltese Keith Azzopardi went head-to-head during twelve rounds of Full Contact (kicks and punches above the waist). The pair battled it out for a vacant WKN Featherweight title. The verdict went in favor of the latter who earned the belt by a unanimous decision.

Azzopardi is on a quest to become world champion in two disciplines of kickboxing simultaneously. In less than two weeks (June 29) he tops “Gladiators Fight Night 23” in Paola, Malta where he challenges Qurban Hosseini of Germany for World Kickboxing Network Featherweight title under oriental rules (K-1 rules).

Local star Jerome Ardissone faced Emidio Molinari of Italy in defense of WKN Bantamweight Full Contact title. The scheduled for twelve rounds championship bout ended prior to the final bell. The Italian competitor became a new champion in the division claiming the win by TKO in the sixth round after the corner of his opponent threw in the towel.

The defending WKN Super Lightweight champion in Full Contact Kamel Jebir squared off against Slovakian Michal Duben. Making his first title defense in front of the home crowd he succeeded to retain his belt by way of TKO in Round 4.

The WKN European title bout saw local heavyweight Anthony Leroy face off Fedor Koltun of Belarus. The scheduled for five-rounds kickboxing encounter didn’t go the distance. The Belarusian athlete scored the win by knockout in the third round.
