Welterweights Lorenz Larkin and Andrey Koreshkov battle it out in the main event of Bellator 229 scheduled for October 5 (AEST) in Temecula, California, the promotion announced on Saturday. The pair tops the fight card on Paramount Network and DAZN.
The contest was initially scheduled for Bellator 219 in March. The bout fell off due to an undisclosed injury sustained by Larkin. He was replaced by Michael Jasper, who lost to Koreshkov by unanimous decision.

Andrey Koreshkov (22-3) of Russia, 28, is coming of a unanimous decision win against Michael Jasper earned in March. Before that he was submitted by Douglas Lima in the fifth round, which snapped his two-fight win streak including the victories against Vaso Bakocevic and Chidi Njokuani.
Lorenz Larkin (20-7, 1 NC) of the USA, 32, won two of his previous bouts by unanimous decision against Ion Pascu and Fernando Gonzalez. Before he suffered a pair of defeats – by knockout in the second round against Paul Daley and a unanimous decision against Douglas Lima.
The Koreshkov vs. Larkin bout is one of the upcoming headline-bouts that the promotion announced this week. Among the matchups, Ryan Bader makes his first heavyweight title defense against Cheick Kongo on September 8 (AEST) at Bellator 226 at SAP Center at San Jose. As well, Patricio “Pitbull” Freire defends his featherweight title against Juan Archuleta at Bellator 228 at The Forum in Inglewood on September 29 (AEST).
Other bouts for Bellator 229 are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
