John Wayne Parr and Anthony Mundine are expected to square off in boxing this November in Queensland, News Corp (Courier Mail) reported on Friday. The venue accommodating the bout is either the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre or the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. The fight formula (number of the rounds) is yet to be revealed. The encounter is reportedly set at 75 kg catchweight.
Parr (10-3) last fought in boxing mid 2003 when he suffered the defeat by unanimous decision against Sakio Bika. Nevertheless he claimed all ten of his wins by way of KO/TKO. His previous appearance inside the ring as a kickboxer was in April 2018, when he lost by unanimous decision against Eder Lopes, which snapped his six-win streak.
In his previous bout last November Mundine (48-9) was stopped by Jeff Horn in 96 seconds and retired. Before that he TKO’d Tommy Browne in the second round and lost by majority decision against Danny Green.
After the report Mundine, 44, posted on Facebook saying that he had been offered the bout, but had not yet made a decision. He is expected to fly to Brisbane on Saturday to confirm the fight.
“Lot of talk about this JWP fight! Yes I’ve been offered but I haven’t made a decision! So nothing is truth just speculation! Only reason I would do it is to redeem myself for myself, family and fans. #staytuned”
Early Friday CEO of DDP Sports Paul Keegan posted on Twitter a photo of John Wayne Parr and captioned the following:
“Contract signed. Opponent confirmed. Venue locked in. John Wayne Parr [is] fighting on a DDP show. Sh*t just got very real.”

It is however unclear whether the recent post above is relevant to the announced comeback of Mundine in the fight against Parr.
