Mundine, 44, makes his comeback after a year of lay off. In his previous outing he was stopped in 96 seconds by Jeff Horn. Before that he TKO’d Tommy Browne in the second round and lost by majority decision against Danny Green.
Ahead of the big payday on Australian soil, Parr is also scheduled for his next kickboxing bout overseas. “The Gunslinger” returns to Japan on August 18 battling it out at the “Rizin 18” event held at Dolphins Arena in Nagoya. His opponent in a three-round 75 kg catchweight matchup is Danilo Zanolini of Brazil.
Parr’s previous appearance inside the ring was in April 2018, when he lost by unanimous decision against Eder Lopes at Bellator Kickboxing 9. The defeat snapped his six-win streak. The upcoming bout against Zanolini is the second attempt to record the 100th career victory in the resume, which already includes a series of notable wins against Yodsanklai Fairtex, Dzhabar Askerov, Mike Zambidis, among others.
Zanolini reportedly owns a chain of kickboxing academies in Japan (via Asian MMA). He has also held RISE Welterweight title.
There is also a stop in between on Aug 24 in Doncaster, England.
