The rematch between Andy Ruiz Jr. (33-1) and Anthony Joshua (22-1) has been set. The pair squares off for the second time on December 7 in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. The bout billed as “Clash on the Dunes” was announced by Matchroom Boxing on Sunday (via Twitter).
Joshua and Ruiz first met early June at Madison Squares Garden in New York City. The contest saw then undefeated champion from the UK making his debut on the US soil against Mexican-American challenger. The scheduled for twelve rounds world title bout didn’t go the distance. The latter claimed the win as well as the belts by TKO in the seventh round.

An upcoming battle features Ruiz in defense of his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles. Joshua aspires to claim the belts back. The encounter is also scheduled for twelve rounds.
The Ruiz-Joshua 2 was initially rumored to take place in the United Kingdom. According to reports, the current champion insisted for the rematch to be held either in the US or at a neutral venue. The upcoming clash in Diriyah marks both fighters’ debut in Saudi Arabia.
More information is expected to be revealed at the press conference scheduled for early next week.
