Jake Matthews returns to action on October 6 at UFC 243 held at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. Battling it out in his home town “The Celtic Kid” takes on Rostem Akman of Sweden.

Jake Matthews (14-4) was last seen inside the Octagon in December 2018 at UFC Fight Night in Adelaide, where he was submitted in the third round by Anthony Rocco Martin. Before that he was riding a three-fight win streak including the victories against Shinsho Anzai, Li Jingliang and Bojan Velickovic.
Rostem Akman (6-1) also lost his previous bout. Making his UFC debut this past June in Stockholm, he dropped a unanimous decision against Sergey Khandozhko. Before that he won all of his previous outings before the final bell against Mauricio Reis, Frodi Vitalis Hansen, Shah Hussain, among others.
The Matthews vs. Akman bout is scheduled for three rounds.
The promotion has also confirmed the women’s bantamweight battle between Holly Holm and Raquel Pennington.
