Nate Diaz defeats Anthony Pettis at UFC 241

Nate Diaz made his highly anticipated comeback on August 18 (AEST). Battling it out at Honda Center in Anaheim, California, USA he faced former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis. The pair squared off in the co-main event of pay-per-view card UFC 241.

The scheduled for three rounds battle at welterweight went the distance. The verdict heard a unanimous decision in favor of Diaz, who updated his record to 20-11.

Nate Diaz returned to action after three years of layoff. In August 2016 he suffered the defeat by majority decision against Conor Mcgregor. Before that he submitted “The Notorious” in the second round, and scored a unanimous decision against Michael Johnson.

Anthony “Showtime” Pettis won his previous bout in March by TKO in the second round against Stephen Thompson. After the defeat against Diaz he drops to 22-9.

In the main event of UFC 241 Daniel Cormier put his heavyweight title on the line, facing off former champion Stipe Miocic for the second time. The bout ended prior to the final horn. The latter reclaimed the belt by TKO in the fourth round.

Also on the main card Paulo Costa scored a unanimous decision against Yoel Romero at middleweight, Sodiq Yusuff stopped Gabriel Benitez in the first round at featherweight, and Derrek Brunson earned a unanimous decision agianst Ian Heinisch at middleweight.
