Roman Bogatov takes TKO win against Mickael Lebout

MMA event M-1 Challenge 104 featured nine bouts on August 31 (AEST) at the Sports Arena Orenburgzhye in Orenburg, Russia. Top of the bill saw the reigning lightweight champion Roman Bogatov making the second defense of his belt against challenger Mickael Lebout.

The scheduled for five rounds championship bout didn’t go the distance. Bogatov retained the strap taking a TKO victory. His opponent was unable to continue after the third round due to shoulder injury.

“A grappling master who literally put to sleep three of his previous four opponents, Bogatov displayed his superior ground attack once again versus a game Lebout. Bogatov originally captured the coveted M-1 Challenge title last September at M-1 Challenge 97, when he won a five-round decision over Rubenilton Pereira, and then he used an arm triangle choke to submit another Brazilian challenger, Michel Silva, in his first title defense this past January,” reads the event recap sent out by the promotion.

Ultimately Roman Bogatov remained undefeated champion updating his record to 9-0. Mickael Lebout dropped to 19-10-2.

The co-main event saw Busarmankul Abdibait Uulu scoring the win by decision against Andrey Lezhnev. Also on the main card, Arman Ashimov and Boris Polejay came out victorious also by decision from their respective bouts against Flavio Da Silva Santos and Jean Petrick. In addition, Vazha Tsiptauri defeated Selem Evloev also by decision.
