GLORY 69 Dusseldorf: Grigorian vs. Beztati

Newly-crowned lightweight champion Marat Grigorian makes his first title defense against challenger Tyjani Beztati. The pair headlines kickboxing event GLORY 69 held on October 13 (AEST) in Dusseldorf, Germany, the promotion announced on Tuesday.

Grigorian (61-11-1, 35 KO) took the strap as well as the revenge by unanimous decision against former champion Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong at GLORY 65 mid May in Utrecht, Holland. Before that the 28-year-old defeated Christian Baya by split decision.

Beztati (19-3, 6 KO) is riding the three-fight win streak. In his previous outing at the same event in May he scored a unanimous decision against Josh Jauncey. Prior to that the 21-year-old earned a unanimous decision against Stoyan Koprivienski and split decision against Baya.

The Grigorian vs. Beztati championship bout is scheduled for five rounds.

The co-main event at GLORY 69 features a heavyweight battle between Michael Smolik and Mohamed Abdallah. The pair meets in a “grudge match”.

Smolik (31-0, 23 KO) makes his GLORY debut. He has signed with the promotion in May.

Abdallah (18-3, 5 KO) makes his third appearance inside the GLORY ring. He has however lost two of his previous bouts by split decision against Guto Inocente and first-round KO against D’Angelo Marshall.

The pair “will settle their long-running war of words when they meet in the ring” (via the announcement sent out by the promotion). The encounter is scheduled for three rounds.

Other bouts are expected to be announced shortly.
