Tyrone Spong is scheduled for arguably the biggest test in his boxing run. “The King of The Ring” goes up against former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk on October 13 (AEST) at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Il., CBS Sports reported. The pair squares off in the scheduled for twelve rounds non-title bout.
Tyron Spong is one of the biggest names in kickboxing history, who turned pro-boxer in March 2015. His last kickboxing bout was in April 2014 against former K-1 fellow Gokhan Saki at GLORY 15 Istanbul, when he suffered a broken shin in the first round of the light heavyweight championship finale. Prior to that the famed competitor from Suriname was ridding the ten-fight win streak including the wins against Saulo Cavalari, Nathan “Carnage” Corbett, Danyo Illunga, among others.

To date Tyrone Spong (14-0, 13 KO) is unbeaten in all of his pro-boxing outings, winning 13 out of 14 bouts by way of KO/TKO. In his previous bout late last month he stopped Jeyson Minda in the second round. Before that he took a split decision against Ytalo Perea.
In addition, earlier in his career Spong recorded 2-0 in MMA.
Oleksandr Usyk (16-0, 12 KO) is former undisputed cruiserweight champion, who moves up a weight class. In his previous bout last November he retained his WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO, The Ring and lineal cruiserweight titles by knockout in the eighth round against Tony Bellew. Before that he scored a unanimous decision against Murat Gassiev and took a majority decision against Mairis Briedis.
The upcoming contest is the second appearance of Tyrone Spong in Chicago since 2013 when he took a revenge against famed Australian Nathan Corbett at GLORY Kickboxing 11. Usyk makes his “Windy City” debut.
