IFMA Youth World Championships 2019 in Antalya, Turkey
IFMA Youth World Championships 2019 kicks off in ten days. The event is held from September 28 to October 6 in Antalya, Turkey, marking the first time when junior Muay Thai practitioners battle it out for Gold on European soil.
The event is expected to see national teams from around the Globe, including Team Australia. As many as 37 representatives of “Gold and Green” took part in the previous tournament held last year in Bangkok, Thailand.

Furthermore Australia has been featured on the IFMA’s Top 5 Youth Teams of 2018. The list also includes Turkey, Russia, USA and Thailand.
The bouts at IFMA Muay Thai Youth World Championships are contested in a format of Olympic-system tournament (knockout contest). To take Gold the eventual winner has to go through the opening round, quarter-final, semi-final and final (depending on the quantity of participants in each particular division). The athletes compete in their respective age and weight class.

The upcoming IFMA Youth Worlds follows the 2019 Chungju World Martial Arts Masterships held early September in Chungju-si, South Korea. The event saw Sport of Muay Thai featured on the roster alongside 20 disciplines, including Taekwondo, Judo, Aikido, Savate (French boxing).
