Cedric Doumbe defends welterweight title against former champion Murthel Groenhart in trilogy fight

GLORY Kickboxing announced its next visit to France scheduled for October 26. The event No. 70 takes place at Palais des Sports de Gerland in Lyon. Top of the fight bill features the reigning welterweight champion Cedric Doumbe in defense of his title against former titleholder Murthel Groenhart.

In addition, the pair meet for the third time. Their first non-title encounter in 2016 ended in favor of Doumbe, who scored a unanimous decision. Groenhart took revenge by split decision and claimed the belt in August 2017.

Cedric Doumbe (73-6-1, 43 KO) is riding the five-fight win streak. In his previous bout in June he successful defended his strap by knockout in the second round against Alim Anabiev. The Frenchman reclaimed the belt against Harut Grigorian via the second-round TKO this past March. Prior to that he scored a unanimous decision against Jimmy Vienot.

Murthel Groenhart (68-24-3, 39 KO) lost the title against Grigorian in his following bout last February. The Dutch kickboxer is coming of the defeat suffered by split decision against Nabiev in March. His previous win dates last September when he stopped Mohammed Jaraya in Round 2.

The co-main event at GLORY 70 Lyon is a featherweight battle between the representative the country-host Abdellah Ezbiri (47-14-1, 14 KO) and Zakaria Zougarry (31-5-1, 15 KO) of the Netherlands. Other bouts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
