Mihajlov faces Merse for WKN Hungarian Heavyweight Kickboxing Title

The WKN Hungarian Heavyweight kickboxing title is on the line on September 28 in the city Salgótarján. The contest features David Mihajlov up against Bakai Merse, squaring off in the headliner of “Salgo Fight Night”. The event takes place at the Városi Sportcsarnok (Sports Hall).

David Mihajlov (19-4) is fresh of the win by knockout in the first round against South Korean K-1 and Pride veteran Choi Hong-man, scored this past June in Seoul. The resume of representative of “Re-Gym” also includes the battles against Roman Shcherbatiuk, Bogdan Nastase, Marius Munteanu, among others.

Bakai Merse (10-0) replaces previously announced Zoltan Hegyi (18-2), World Kickboxing Network announced on Saturday. The latter was forced to withdraw for the contest due to injury suffered at training. The undefeated competitor out of Total Fighters Fite Club is known for his battles against Farkas Balazs and Czangler Gyozo.

The Mihajlov vs. Merse championship bout headlines the 10-fight card comprising kickboxing and Muay Thai matchups with Hungarian competitors. Among the bouts, Radics Robert takes on his country-fellow Bodi Istvan in the scheduled for three rounds encounter in Muay Thai at 71 kg catchweight.

Hungary is also known as a host of the third episode of Simply the Best Kickboxing produced in 2015 in Budapest. The list of its prominent representatives includes Szucs Barnabas, Gabor Gorbics, Bianka Balajti, to name a few.
