The Ultimate Fighting Championship makes its first visit to South Korea on December 21 with UFC Fight Night 165. MMA event on ESPN+ takes place at Sajik Arena in Busan, which is a large port city known for its beaches, mountains and temples. The headline-bout features a featherweight battle between Brian Ortega and Chan Sung Jung, the promotion announced on Tuesday.
In his previous bout last December Brian Ortega (14-1, 1 NC) challenged for featherweight title, yet fell short, dropping a unanimous decision against the division’s king Max Holloway at UFC 231. Prior to that the American mixed martial artist was riding an undefeated streak, including the victories against Frankie Edgar, Cub Swanson, Renano Moicano, among others.

The representative of the country-host Chan Sung Jung (15-5) is coming of the first-round stoppage win claimed in June against Moicano. Before that “Korean Zombie” was KO’d in the fifth-round by Yair Rodriguez, and scored the first-round knockout win against Dennis Bermudez.
The Ortega vs. Sung Jung bout is scheduled for five rounds.
The event is also expected to see a light heavyweight bout between Volkan Oezdemir and Aleksandar Rakic, and a flyweight encounter between Alexandre Pantoja and Matt Schnell. Other bouts for UFC on ESPN+ 23 are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
