Yodsanklai vs. Petrosyan in the making, Buakaw called out

A highly anticipated matchup between Italian kickboxing sensation Giorgio Petrosyan and Muay Thai star Yodsanklai Fairtex seems to be officially in the making, thanks to ONE Championship head Chatri Sityodtong. Moreover, he has invited another renowned representative of the Kingdom of Thailand – Buakaw Banchamek – to join his organization and, perhaps, square off against both.

“I want to do Yodsanklai vs. Giorgio Petrosyan. I think the world wants to see that,” Sityodtong said after the final of featherweight World Grand Prix, which saw “The Doctor” earning US$1,000,000 by unanimous decision against Samy Sana this past Sunday in Tokyo, Japan.

Meanwhile, Yodsanklai Fairtex is scheduled for his next outing on November 16 in Beijing, China. “The Boxing Computer” partakes in the event titled “Age of Dragons”, facing off a yet to be named opponent.

Chatri Sityodtong called for Buakaw to join ONE Championship. Furthermore he is willing to match him against Petrosyan.

“Buakaw, if you’re there, I want to do Buakaw [Banchamek] vs. Giorgio Petrosyan as well. Buakaw, prove to the world that you”re number one.”

Talking the featherweight roster, Sityodtong said that “there are some big fights out there, but I think Yodsanklai and Giorgio Petrosyan would be an incredible fight. Many people thought they would be in the final of the [World Grand Prix].”

“The featherweight division is super-stacked, but I would like to see Giorgio doing a super-fight, so I invite Buakaw.”

“I’m a big fan of Buakaw. He’s an incredible fighter. It would be amazing if he ended his career in ONE Championship against Giorgio Petrosyan, and Yodsanklai, too.”

Buakaw Banchamek was expected to face Kung Fu practitioner Yi Long for the third time early this month. The bout fell off mid August when the latter was forced to withdraw citing back injury. “The White Lotus” is yet to be booked for his next fight.
