GLORY 70 Lyon results: Murthel Groenhart defeats Troy Jones

Interim welterweight title was on the line last night in Lyon, France where Murthel Groenhart and Troy Jones squared off in the headliner of GLORY 70. The scheduled for five rounds championship bout didn’t go the distance. Groenhart took the win as well as the belt by knockout in Round 2.

He is expected to face the reigning champion in the division Cedric Doumbe in the championship unification at the future event. “Doumced” was initially scheduled to defend his belt against Groenhart at this event, but withdrew due to injury, and was replaced by Jones.

In the co-main event at GLORY 70 Donovan Wisse scored a unanimous decision against former middleweight champion Jason Wilnis. In addition, Zakaria Zouggary stopped Abdellah Ezbiri in the first round of their featherweight bout, and Bruno Gazani took a split decision against Michael Palandre at lightweight.

Among other bouts, heavyweight Nordine Mahieddine defeated Kirill Kornilov by split decision, and middleweight Matej Penaz retired Yassine Ahaggan in Round 2. The complete GLORY 70 results can be found below.
