The Belgian competitor Ougo Huet earned WKN European gold last night (October 26) in Courcelles. The protegee of Osman Yigin squared off against Giacomo Stocchino of Italy in Muay Thai battle at featherweight. The contest headlined “Fight Day Trazegnies” presented by “Team Fighting La Marca”.
Huet and Stocchino went head to head during five rounds. In the end the verdict heard a unanimous decision in favor of the representative of the country-host.
Only a month ago Huet challenged for World Kickboxing Network Super Bantamweight title in Ingolstadt, Germany, yet fell short against Jan Szajko, who claimed the decision. Earlier in his career the Belgian athlete earned WKN European Super Featherweight title in the amateur class.
The co-main event at “Fight Day Trazegnies” saw Cody Faidherbe up against Mounir Mrah of France. The pair battled it out for WKN European Super Lightweight amateur kickboxing belt. The encounter also went a full distance, and ended in favor of the French fighter.
The rest of the card featured a series of kickboxing and Muay Thai bouts with local and international competitors.
“Fight Day Trazegnies” followed PSM Fight Night produced in April in Brussels, where famed brothers Boughanem, Youssef and Yassine, earned WKN World Super Welterweight and Super Heavyweight Muay Thai titles (respectively). In addition, the event was presented back to back with PROKICK Lord of the Ring in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where Johnny Smith faced Shuhei Sone in defense of his WKN Intercontinental Welterweight title.
The next visit of World Kickboxing Network to Belgium is scheduled for November 24. The annual event titled “La Nuit des Titans 2019” is held in Farciennes, featuring a trio of championship bouts.
