Bi Nguyen goes up against Stamp Fairtex on November 8. The pair is featured on the ONE Masters of Fate fight card, taking place at the Mall of Asia in Manila, Philippines. The women’s MMA bout is scheduled for three rounds at atomweight.
Vietnamese-American Bi Nguyen (5-4) is coming off the win by unanimous decision scored against Puja Tomar in Muay Thai bout held in September. In her previous MMA bout in July “Killer Bee” suffered the defeat by split decision against Bozhena Antoniyar.
“Now I’m fighting a monster of a stand-up girl, and although I’m confident in my striking, I’m going to switch my game plan back around to mixed martial arts,” said Bi Nguyen in the recent interview with the promotion. “When I win this fight, I will have proven so much to myself because it is a lot to ask of an athlete to go back and forth and fight different sports.”
Talking the previous opponent of Nong “Stamp” Fairtex (2-0), Asha Roka, who she submitted in the third round, Nguyen said that the latter “had zero ground game”.
“She’s a great boxer, but it was a great match-up for Stamp to show her ground [skills] in the last fight. She’s not going to get that chance with me.”
“You really have to understand complete mixed martial arts. Obviously, you have to respect Stamp’s stand-up, but I just think that I have more answers than her.”
“I think the fight is going to end up on the ground and I’m going to win. That’s where it becomes a mismatch. I’m not going to say if it’s ground and pound or a submission. It’s hard to tell. My submission might give me ground and pound, or my ground and pound might give me a submission.”
The rising star from Thailand Stamp Fairtex holds titles in two sports, kickboxing and Muay Thai. She made her MMA debut in July 2018, earning the win by knockout in the first round against Rashi Shinde. In her previous bout in August she submitted Asha Roka in Round 3.
