Nong Stamp Fairtex and Bi Nguyen squared off in the women’s MMA bout last night (November 8) at the Mall of Asia in Manila, Philippines. The three-round atomweight contest was featured on the fight card billed as “ONE Masters of Fate”.
The encounter saw a predominately standup striking competition, except of the first round when Nguyen attempted to take Nong Stamp to the ground. The latter, however, showcased a superior clinching, as well as seemed to have the contest in control over the course of the whole fight, throwing power hands, knees, elbows and kicks.
In the end Stamp Fairtex, the reigning Muay Thai and kickboxing champion in the women’s atomweight class, was awarded a unanimous decision and updated her MMA record to 3-0. She is looking to challenge for Gold after several additional bouts in the near future. “Killer Bee” Nguyen dropped to 5-5.
In the main event of ONE Masters of Fate Joshua Pacio retained his strawweight title by submission in the second round against Rene Catalan. The rest of the card featured a series of MMA and Muay Thai bouts.
