Louise Mckie – Meet Bellator MMA Ring Girl

The appearance of the ring card girls is, hands down, a substantial component of any prominent combat sports promotion, whether it’s boxing or MMA. In addition to letting the audience know which round is up next, it certainly helps represent the brand. The likes of Brittney Palmer, Arianny Celeste and Mercedes Terrell, are some of the notable names in the industry today.

One can say, the ring girls are the most seen personalities immediately after the fighters. In opposition to the often ruthless matchups inside the ring, they bring chic and glamour, catching the eye of spectators in between the rounds.

Louise Mckie is a new name representing Bellator MMA. The 20-year-old from Newcastle, UK, has joined the promotion this past February at the event in Dublin. Ever since she has been on an “amazing” journey, appearing at the numerous events in Europe and the US.

When asked about the most exciting moment in her career to date, Mckie reflects back on when she was invited to the US. “That was quite a big achievement”.

She has recently appeared at the finale of welterweight World Grand Prix in Uncasville, CT, with 50 Cent in the house, which “was a fantastic night,” she says.

“We had an amazing weekend. It is quite nice to know that those [famous] people you see in the media a lot, they are very humble, and very easy to get along with.”

“It is also shock for my family and friends around me. They have never expected that [appearing at the world-class shows], and I’ve had myself a lot of comments on that. It’s nice to get yourself a recognition, and obviously help support the brand.”

“I also got to learn a few new fighting styles and the US fighters, which helps to expand my MMA knowledge as well.”

Mckie says she enjoys martial arts training, as well as watching fights; and often sees her gym-fellows battling it out inside the cage.

She shares that “sometimes you appear on the other side. I am like ‘I’m not with you guys’. It’s hard to see your friends in there; and obviously with work you build a few relationships, so it’s hard to watch them in the ring and not be biased.”

When asked about her goal in life Louise Mckie says she “would like to be based in America. The American shows are very big.”

Her next appearance is scheduled for November 14 in Tel Aviv, Israel, where Sergei Kharitonov and Linton Vassell battle it out in the headliner of Bellator 234.
