UFC 245 results, live updates, Usman vs Covington

The final pay-per-view fight card for 2019, UFC 245: Usman vs. Covington featured three title bouts on December 15 (AEDT) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.


In the main event the defending welterweight champion Kamaru Usman faced former interim champion Colby Covington. The scheduled for five rounds championship bout didn’t go the full distance. The champion retained his belt by way of stoppage at 4:10 of the fifth-round.

In the co-main event Max Holloway made the fourth defense of his featherweight belt, yet fell short against the number one contender Alexander Volkanovski. After five rounds the latter was declared a new champion by unanimous decision.

The third title fight saw two-division champion Amanda Nunes in defense of her bantamweight title against Germaine de Randamie in the rematch. Nunes won their first (non-title) fight six years ago via stoppage in Round 1.

Their second encounter went a full-five round distance. The verdict heard a unanimous decision in favor of Nunes, who made the fifth successful defense of her belt.

The clash between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington ended 10 seconds in the fifth round. Usman made his first successful title defense, scoring the win by TKO with punches.

Max Holloway dropped his featherweight title against Alexander Volkanovski. After 25 minutes of MMA battle the latter claimed the win as well as the belt by unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 50-45).

Amanda Nunes retained her bantamweight title after a five-round war against Germaine de Randamie. The verdict heard a unanimous decision in favor of the champion, who made the fifth successful title defense.

Marlon Moraes and José Aldo went head to head during three-round of their bantamweight encounter. The verdict heard a split judges’ decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) in favor of Moraes.

Bantamweights Petr Yan and Urijah Faber kicked off UFC 245 live fight action on pay-per-view. The contest ended at 0:43 of the third round in favor of Yan, who stopped his opponent with head kick.

The final fight on the preliminary card saw Geoff Neal and Mike Perry squaring off at welterweight. Neal declared the win with head kick and punches at 1 minute and 30 seconds of the very first round.

Women’s bantamweight bout between Ketlen Vieira and Irene Aldana ended prior to the final horn. The latter secured the win and declared the status of number one contender at the end of the first round with punches.

The middleweight bout between Ian Heinisch and Omari Akhmedov went a full distance. All three judges unanimously scored the contest 29-28 in favor of the latter.

The first fight on the preliminary card featured Matt Brown in the scheduled for three rounds welterweight bout against Ben Saunders. The encounter ended five seconds till the end of Round 2. “The Immortal” declared the win by knockout with elbows and punches, making the victorious return to action after two years of layoff.

Wrapping up the early preliminary card 20-year-old Chase Hooper scored the first-round stoppage against Daniel Teymur.

Among other bouts, Brandon Moreno came out victorious from his hard fought flyweight bout against Kai Kara-France by unanimous decision. Women’s MMA battle between Viviane Araujo and Jessica Eye ended in favor of the latter, who also scored a unanimous decision. The opening fight saw the first-round KO in favor of Punahele Soriano, who stopped Oskar Piechotain in 3 minutes and 17 seconds with punches.
